How to find cookies installed on your computer

Cookie are small txt files that websites use to store information about your computer so when you visit the website later they can learn somethings about you. A cookie is very easy to trace and to find. However get ready to get lost in the sea because each website you visit has a cookie and I am sure you visit millions of websites. This will make much harder to find the cookies you want but with indexing tools I am sure you will make it.

You should not go for the cookies with windows explorer. It will take ages and you will probably never find it. Instead you should use a tool that will do this for you. I prefer to use CCleaner. This will is a cookie cleaner but can show you the cookies. Just analyze the cookies on your hard disk and then all you need to do is to open them one by one to find finally the cookie you want. If you are like me who use Stumble Upon a lot, I can say I visit about 1000 sites on a bad day and about more than 10000 on a good day because I also use some tools that let me stumble much faster. This makes finding a cookie I want extremelly dificult. So instead of browsing them one by one that would take your life and then some, you should use a good indexing tool, such as Google Desktop for example. This thing you already know that takes about a day or a week to index your entire system, then it will give you search results as fast as you can type. Needless to say that you should only ask for it to search inside the cookie folder. If you use multiple browsers this is going to be kinda hard.

Cookies are there just to write information about you and your computer when you use the internet. They also keep a history of what you do on the internet and so when you visit the site again, the cookie will say what they know about you and then some more. Needless to say that you should delete all the cookies you have in your computer using the CCleaner to keep some privacy. If you computer is stolen for example, you will be telling the world all they need to know about your browsing history and with some luck the information you type like your login and your password. If you do not use a Master password to encrypt the saved passswords this is what happens all the time.

Computers are scary stuff in privacy, security, reliability and then some more, you really need to know how to use them if you do not want trouble in the future or with the hackers.
