Poetry: Defining God

Once upon a time

In a land called Dappledee

There lived a tiny firefly

And her friend a bummble~bee.

Together they would travel

For they loved each other so.

Fluttering through each sunny day~

United they would go....

Dancing flower to flower~

Tip~toeing through ponds pollen

Listening to loons

As softly they are calling...

Then one day the thunder came

And filled the friends with fear.

They held on tight to one another

As the storm began to near.

Rumbling and roaring shook their wings~

They began to quiver and quake.

Sheets of rain fell from the sky...

All night they stayed awake.

The firefly held the bummble~bee

And said "Try not to be afraid.

These are just the storms of life

And together we will be brave.

I will shine my light for you~

You'll feel it glowing and warm...

And remember even though I'am scared too

We will make it through the storm."

Those words calmed the little bee

And stilled her trembling wings~

Cuddling close to the golden hue

They spoke of special things...

Like the mighty roar of the ocean

And how rain helps the flowers to grow

And how quiet and peaceful the world

seems to be as it slowly begins to snow.

They talked about the wind and how

Sometimes it howls at night.

And they thought about how funny it was

When shadows crept in through moonlight.

The rain continued and the thunder did too~

But it seemed a little farther away

And as they gazed toward a sky filled with

Clouds they saw a hint of day.

Just on the horizon the two friends

Could see blackness turning to blue~

And they knew that soon the storm would be over

And the sun would come shining through.

"How will it be after the rain?"

Asked the bee to the firefly...

"Things will be all fresh and new

Because God has just been by.

You see he sends us storms to make us

Stop and think a moment or two

About all the wonderful things

He has given to me and to you.

The thunder gets our attention~

The lightning helps us to see~

And the rain helps our spirits to grow~

While the wind will set them free.

With every storm we learn a little

And we become stronger too~

And though sometimes we may feel alone

God will see us through."

With those words the rain stopped falling

And a brand new day had come~

And the bummble~bee thanked her

Special friend for all that she had done.

So in that very far away land

Two friends once again took flight~

Bringing with them the little lessons

They both learned that stormy night...
