America, the land of the free! And the statue of Liberty has stood waiting for the teeming masses arriving over the past century and helping make this country better, wiser and more prosperous with the diversity of melting pot culture.
We think of melting pot as being the "old world" that have steadily seen the arrival of millions of people who come to America with a dream, some memories and a desire to start a new life.
And each group has contributed to the greatness of the American way that includes the freedoms of a representative democracy with constitutional freedoms.
The American dream over the years has changed gradually but the emphasis on having a system that allows individuals to live freely and work to better their lives and families is the greatness of the system.
In comparison, the United States offers more opportunity for individuals to pursue their life goals through working in a system that provides for citizens with a business climate that allows for free enterprise and an education system that provides a way for young people to get ready for life through public schools and the higher education system.
Not only do Americans enjoy a higher standard of living, they also have higher standards in their communities in health care, education and business.
Americans have the freedoms that exceed those found in many nations. Those freedoms in religion, speech, and the expression of ideas make America a melting pot of ideas. The nation's history might be called a "think tank" experience that has debated, worked on and solved many issues over the years since the founding fathers signed the constitution in 1776.
Americans have the freedom to live and enjoy their lives, grow their families, take part in communities, and enjoy prosperity. They can follow the ideals of "God, Home and Country" in their homes and community.
With the democracy, the nation has a way to solve problems through the legislative, executive and judicial branches that provide a check and balance way to solve and work on problems Americans and the world face.
The American dream can vividly mean something wildly different from one person or family to another. They may want to live in cities, farms, suberbs, and live their own lives largely as they are able and please.
The creativity of America is the American dream. And, when the dream doesn't work we have the ability to change it through the ballot box and our ability to make political comment.
A great nation with thought that arrived from antiquity and the Athenian democracy with some refinement, but a method that gives citizens a way to have input and follow the nation's political, social and economic life.
Whether it means opening a business, being college educated for a career, or earning money from blue collar labor or factory work, Ameircans have a system that gives them a way to go.
Whether the nation's course is up or down, hardly fought, or on a roller-coaster ride, Americans should be proud of their country and the accomplishments that have been made here and the rest of the world over our 234-year history.
