Spring/Summer fashion 2009 ushers in some of the fresh old favourites along with the renewal of vibrant colours and safari themes. This is a season pulsated with a variety of stlyes: sexy feminine, rainbow brights, exotic tribal and futuristic fashionista.

Fairy-tale feminine flair:

Life may be tough but fashion is taking a light hand with flowers and foliage. Pack your body hugging minis away. This season is floating by in puffed sleeves, dainty details and tuille trains that create drama with flounces and ruffles as seen on the collections of designers Roberto Cavalli and Chanel.

Sensual sheer fabric:

Sexy took a new turn with see through sheer appearing in the lines of Paul Gaultier , Sonia Rykiel and John Galliano, creating modest cover up looks that add intrigue. You'll find sheer fabric used in a multitude of ways from tight sheer pieces to discreet transparent hems and sleeves to over-layers.

Grecian goddess:

On the runways of Elie Saab and Valentino, the classical one-shoulder draping, greek goddess inspired dress in inky hues and soft pastels gently skims the hips and camouflage flaws, making it perfect for all figures.

One-shouldered look:

Politics and fashion unite with the inauguration of Barack Obama in January. On 2009's catwalk, the one shoulder concept takes on a new twist with futuristic revamps as seen in Balenciaga's lilac and grey space dresses while Lanvin embraces the more classical approach with Grecian folds to give an ethereal impression. The cold shoulder defintely goes hot this season! River Island and New Look are all rocking this trend.

Shoes:

From Balmain's bold pyramid studs, Gucci's folk-inspired fringes, Anna Sui's Egyptian-inspired exotic sandals to Christain Lacroix's carved tribal figures; Spring/Summer 2009 shoe trends all come down to intriguing details.

Jewelery:

It is all about making a loud statement with ornaments that are outrageously oversized. Giambattista Valli and Christain Lacroix showed modern avant garde pieces while the likes of Ralph Lauren and Anna Sui favour imperial-esque jewels and ethnic inspired beadings.

Bags:

Moschino's chunky chain, Prada's colourful patent and Gucci's bright New Jackie Large bag with bamboo detailed tassels...This season brings out bags that are chic and complement a woman's personality and style.

Colours:

Alber Elbaz at Lanvin, Gaultier and Kane all played up neons; Josh Goot and Rodarte painted the colours of rainbow. In the red range, popular tones are fuchsia, magenta and shocking pink while in the aqua spectrum we see lots of deep cardamom green, citron green, jade aqua, santorini blue and royal lapis blue. Monochromes are represented by slate grey, black, navy, hessian cream and white. The key colours of 2009 are lemon yellows, tangerine, orange and buttercup gold to inject new vigour and vibrant optimisim into the fashion scene.

Prints:

Retro garden florals are back and sizzling hot than ever. Designers like Oscar de la Renta and Karl Lagerfeld have revamped the bold botanical print collection while Christopher Kane goes wild with safari animal prints. Geometrics, nautical themes and exotic tribal have all been lauded for 2009 spring/summer fashion trends.
