The theory of why we are here has been debated for as long as the dawn of time. Some people believe that God created the Earth and humans, while others believe that the Earth was created from the Big Bang. Nevertheless, the more time we spend on arguing about who created the Earth and why we are here, the more precious time we are losing in trying to make sure that society will still be here in the future. We do need to take action to ensure a better future for society because if we don't, then who else will? There are people who believe that it is futile because they believe the world is going to end soon anyway, so what's the point? The point is simple. We don't know what's going to happen in the future. We don't know if the world will end tomorrow, the next day, or in a week. Why should we say its futile when the future is certain? Wouldn't it be better to try and make sure there is a tomorrow, before talking about tomorrow?
We as a society, have to come together and get over our prejudices. We have to get over the things that separate us like religious beliefs and personal thought. There's nothing wrong about holding your opinions and your beliefs, but there is something wrong when those opinions and beliefs hinder you from helping your fellow man. I believe that people are good at heart and because of this, I believe that we have the ability to come together and forge a better, solid future. However, we seem to be telling ourselves that we can't because there are people who would disagree with us. While it is true that there are people who disagree, it doesn't mean that we have to give up. It doesn't take a million people to change the world. It can take just one person, or a group of many to do it. Dr. Martin L. King Jr was one man who helped millions come together that led to many great achievements in the fight for Civil Rights. It is because of men like Dr. King and Malcolm X that there are people still fighting for civil rights today. One person can lead by example, and the example will lead many more.
You see, in order to have a tomorrow we have to come together and ensure that society will still exist. We need to put aside our differences and look at the youth of today. Why should our actions hinder their future? We already have our society, but theirs is just a seed waiting to grow and from the looks of it, their society will be a more drastic and scarier place than ours. However, there is still hope in changing that. All we have to do is hold a helping hand and not let racism, sexism, religious beliefs and other prejudices hinder our advancement as a society. After all, is it not the duty of the child to take care of its mother when its sick?
