Mid-week crisis, you want to cry and shout, you have loads of work, loads of stress, and loads of crankiness. What would you do? And what better than to call up the gals and let them know that a little love would make a big difference for you right now?
Last time I had one of those days we set up to have a girl's night in at friend's apartment. We got an the e-mail invitation to a "social yoga night", confirmed and each one brought her own drink and a snack. It was seven at night and there were four very hungry and tired girls on fours on yoga mats, each checking out each other bums. After that night yoga was not only social, we wanted to look like our yoga instructor friend. Thirty minutes of basic stretches was all we needed to kick the crankiness and some Lavender aromatherapy oil. We did stretches in pairs, each of us exchanging massages. Incredible how having someone simply walking with their hands up and down your spine can make you feel. Magically by nine we were all ready for some chit-chat, drinks.
Once the wine kicked in we started lashing out all our troubles. Luckily there are always friends in the group who love to just sit and listen. Some give you a hug, some a smile and some make you see the lighter side. And there is always someone in the group who embodies a nurturing mother. So there's always someone who simply loves to make you some tea, soup or chocolate. And the attention you normally don't get you will have it. There's always also someone very logical and analytic. You can count on her to give you whole new perspective on the situation. Suddenly you feel different, released and even happy. Good times are bound to end, after all, we all have day jobs, and for some a family to attend to. But this quick reunion with the girls was like goodness in a capsule. Much needed to get us through the week.
So next time you're cranky and feel it's the end. Call up the girls, cry, shout, eat and drink, after all what's life without all of these?
