When I think, ponder, conceive, or judge anything, I try to be objective. That is to say, I try to avoid the knee-jerk reaction that seems to be so common today, at least as concerns issues with George Bush and his politics.
Obviously, his political leanings are conservative, and he leans towards a strong national defense. He has a traditional viewpoint towards issues involving morals. In economic areas he has a philosophy of low taxes, and smaller government. These are factual observations, not personal reactions to his decisions.
George Bush has led this country in the hardest of times, the Age of Terrorism. Despite our aversion to war, and death; we are in the midst of one of the world's most dangerous struggles. We were attacked, which is to say, we did not start it! Since the president's first responsibility is to defend the people of our country, he took decisive action by moving against the terrorists in Afghanistan.
I think that his decisions have been well thought out, and prudent. We had to do something, or nothing. He took a reasonable action. While George Bush's politics include many issues which are conservative in nature, such as anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, etc., those who make accusations of self-interest or stupidity regarding our War on Terrorism are really saying that they dislike him, and all things associated with war.
The age of George Bush politics will be over soon, and his successor will face the same realities of the world today. Unfortunately, idyllic views of how we would like things to be are not necessarily the reality of today's world. Whether one loves, or hates George Bush; he has led the United States with a steady hand, ever mindful of our tradition of defending freedom and freedom's interests.
