The Fig Tree is a large pub/restaurant, located on Windsor Street, very close to the centre of Uxbridge, Middlesex, in the London Borough of Hillingdon. It is actually the town's former police station and is an old building with high ceilings and plenty of indoor and outdoor space for drinkers and diners alike.
My first visit to The Fig Tree took place early one summer's evening. We did not know Uxbridge particularly well at that time and were looking for somewhere to have an evening meal. It was the plethora of outdoor tables on what was a beautiful evening and the extensive burger menu on the wall close to same which convinced us to give the place a try. I am very glad that we did.
The burger menu is but one of the menus offered by The Fig Tree but it in itself offers a wide variety of options at excellent prices. Whether your choice be beef, lamb, chicken, or even vegetarian, it is likely that you will find something to suit from this selection. I have also, however, subsequently tried many items from their more extensive and varied menu, always being delighted by the quality and quantity of what I received.
The Fig Tree has two large TV screens inside, close to the public bar. They also have two satellite decoder boxes which means that when there are such as two big sporting events on simultaneously, both can be shown to cater to the different requirements or preferences of the patrons. This is of course of huge benefit in that everyone is happy and - as otherwise inevitably happens in such circumstances - the minority are not left disappointed and perhaps forced to move on elsewhere.
There are a wide range of ales, lagers and ciders available to buy at the bar in The Fig Tree as well as obviously an extensive selection of wines and spirits. Some of the drinks can unfortunately be a little bit on the pricey side in comparison to other pubs in Uxbridge but the overall experience of visiting the establishment probably justifies any additional expense.
The Fig Tree hosts regular special events at certain times of the year and details are always prominently displayed around the premises on posters. The friendly bar staff are always of course willing to help with any enquiries in this respect.
I would recommend The Fig Tree to anyone visiting Uxbridge. It is a very cosmopolitan pub in that it is frequented by all age groups at all times of the day and night, either looking to sample the food or enjoy the party atmosphere on such as weekend evenings. I for one - living so far away now - miss it.
