Playing with words for the fun of it

Wubbin' Following my rescue adoption of Honey Bunny in January 2008, many adjustments and modifications took place in my life. In addition to the usual accommodations, having Honey has caused my vocabulary to change just a bit, if not more. I wouldn't classify the way that I talk to her as babytalk, but it certainly isn't common everyday language between humans. Soon after we brought her home, she made it blatantly known how much she adored having her tummy rubbed and scratched. She constantly wants to be petted and loved by whoever is in her vicinity.

Somewhere between all of the loving and the rubbing a new word emerged. The new word that I have come up with gets its meaning from the combination of two other words. It may sound confusing right now, but you'll understand in just a second. If my word were listed in a dictionary, I believe it would display as follows - Wubbin' : pronounced (wub en) : v. engaging in the act of rubbing your dog's stomach, or other body area and simultaneously giving your dog loving. Viewed as one-in-the-same by devoted pet owners and lovers. May also be viewed as two separate and independent acts by outsiders* or those who are not wrapped up in their pets. *outsiders refers to those people who do not own pets and who do not view their pet as a member of the family. To verify the validity of my claim, I have checked the dictionary.com site just to make sure that this new word I came up with really is new. After typing "wubbin'" into the search box and pressing enter, the following was displayed on my screen: No results found for wubbin'. The page then lists several similarly spelled suggestions for both dictionary and reference meanings. None of the suggestions included any variation of my new found wubbin'.

I imagine it is rather rare to actually find a word that has not previously been discovered and/or documented, as I am not familiar with any related findings. I am not aware or sure of the statistics and frequency in which this occurs, but it is certainly not a common practice for me. This discovery has made its way into my every day talk and is the only correct term to use when performing the specific acts from which it originated. The addition of wubbin' into my personal vocabulary has simplified and shortened my need to express certain thoughts and/or feelings when referring to giving Honey Bunny loving and rubbing.
