Learning to drive to some is a fun thing to do.In my case was a horriable experience.
I guess I'll never forget that experience. I was a young woman barely twenty and had never driven a car before. It all happened one rainy cold spring night .You know one of those rainy seasons when it does nothing but rain, rain and more rain. My husband ,his mother, and the baby and I were riding home late from visiting with some relatives that evening. We had driven a few miles when Chase, that was my husband, had began to drive in a reckless manner. He had been drinking earlier with his friends and I guess it had just kicked in. We were getting to fast, his mother ask him to slow down, I was terrified we were moving faster and faster, when Chase rounded a curve and the door on the passengers side swung open.I grabbed hold of Ellen's arm pulling her towards me,Chase saw what was happening and began slowing down finally comming to a stop after side swipping a utility pole.We managed to get Chase to agree to swap seats with me. I was thinking Lord if you will help me I will drive this car.
Meanwhile ,Ellen was moaning and twisting her hands scared to death. I'm surprised the poor thing didn'y have a heart attack. I am one who never panic's untill the deal is over and done.So I managed to get the car started, with Ellen trying to tell me how to drive, was not a good thing. She had never driven a car eather. But somehow I managed to put the car in gear and slowly I made my way onto the road again . I have watched Chase drive lot's of times so I knew what to do.I just never knew I could do it.By now I was doing ok, Chase had passed out on the back seat, had I known he was that drunk believe me I would have never gotten into that car.He had endangered the life of us all. When he was sober the next day,I ask him what I must do to get a license to drive. He was a good driver when he was sober, but I never knew when this could happen again. So i went and got a booklet to learn everything I needed to know about driving.A week later I went and took my driving test, which I passed with flying colors.I was so happy, for I had promised my little girl never again to be in that situation. We could have all been killed,if I hadn't had the courage to do what I had done that rainy night. That gave me more freedom, more peace of mind.Knowing that if I had to I could drive us where we needed to go.I didn't have to risk my life and the life of my eighteen month old daughter to a drunk driver.
