Fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2009

Bold patterns and bright colors graced the runway when Vera Wang, Marc Jacobs, and Betsy Johnson showed their spring lines. The bold patterns and airy styles seem to be the best way to go. Whether your clothes are loose or tight, be sure that large patterns, like circles or stripes, are a part of your wardrobe. Go for a boyish look with fun, flirty colors and a girly touch.

No matter what, one thing's for sure: hats are back! Huge, floppy hats and small, structured hats are both wonderful with any new outfit for this spring and summer. These hats add a wonderful touch to almost every outfit.

White also makes a bold statement with any number of great colors. Mix white with an old fashioned picnic blanket pattern for a classy, sporty look, or wear white alone and loosely for an airy, easy-going feel. This color can make anyone look darker that they actually are!

Jumpers have made a comeback as well. Wear a jumper with a belt to create defined lines or slap on a pair of overalls for the same general look. You could even throw on a large patterned shirt for a cute spin on this new trend.

Dirndl skirts are also in the latest fashion. See-through clothing and harem pants in bright colors are other great trends as well.

Fun, flirty, floral designs, stripes, and geometric patterns are all featured in this spring's latest looks. Bold lines and minimum curves have found their way into the spring line as well. Black is not found too often in this spring's fashion line up, but it does make a few appearances. A full length ball gown is seen in Jason Wu's runway collection as well as a tweed skirt suit, both featured in black.

Jewelry wise, you should take your inspiration from around the world. Chunky, tribal jewelry with geometric shapes go great with most outfits. Large headbands and colorful scarfs also add the perfect touch to a jumper or overall suit. Add a nice touch with dangling earings that inclue colors that pop with your outfit.

3-D folds have also found a niche for themselves. Folds that really stand out give a bold and edgy look are amazing for a tough spring look. Try a bandage dress for less of the edgy side and more texture.

One shoulder dresses with lots of drapping and folds can hide problem areas and give a goddess-like aura to anyone. Give this fashion a Greek look with jeweled sandals.

Try a boyish look with your boyfriend's jeans or shorts. Even throw on his tie with a flirty shirt. Just be sure to mix the boyish look with something more girlish. Put on something metallic, like a jacket or jewelry, to put a girly spin upon it. You could even try a top hat with an evening gown or boyfriend jeans with a colorful shirt, like a pink floral.

Enjoy what you wear while keeping in fashion. Just remember, make what you wear all about you.
