As much as I hate to say anything good about PC's the fact is that they are unfortunately better for gaming. BUT for one reason and one reason only. The Mac has for years been seen as a professional's computer and games just aren't released for OSX, or when they are nowhere actually sells them. PC world lives up to its name and has about 5 Mac items and Apple stores don't stock games, then oh look they are expensive on the internet. Goodie.
This is, I think a huge marketing mistake on apples part, I mean there are PC's designed for gaming with there own back packs so you can easily carry it to a friend's or a random LAN party. Now I'm sure a top of the range Mac is just as capable at running games but where is the advertisement eh? Just stick Gaming somewhere in the name and geeks all over will rush to buy it(myself included). The graphics are there, to use Maya or any other 3D modeller, you need good graphics.
I suppose I have to admit as a whole PC's are easier to upgrade, which of course you will have to every other week when a new game is released. Though again I believe this is simply due to the lack availability on Mac components as well as a lack of knowledge on my part. There is also the issue of compatibility, peripherals like game pads and joysticks have had issues with my Mac. Though this is quickly dying away and soon won't be an issue at all. The Dell XPS I have to say was a stoke of genius, a fold out laptop that ends up more of a desktop. Probably the best known gaming laptop and a hell of a lot cheaper than any of the alienware laptops.
But the fact that a devoted Mac user is forced to voice his worries on a public forum that PC's are without a doubt better when it comes to gaming, just shows how big the problem is. Come on Apple, for my pride's sake, please please please bring out a back pack to put my Mac in so I can be super geek once more. And walk down the street with my head held high, knowing I'm better than all the PC owners and feelinggenerallysmug about my life.
Thankfully I am a dedicated console gamer and apart from World of Warcraft do not stray onto Mac gaming and therefore never tempted to go out and purchase a nasty PC or dirty my fingers on a friend's Microsoft keyboard. But I find the whole situation very embarrasing to talk about and hopefully my girlfriend won't read this article and mock me for being an apple user.
I will say no more.
