If you are a Motley Crue and/or a Tommy Lee fan and even if you are not a fan and are just simply looking for something to pass the time, entertain you, and make you laugh, then you will enjoy watching Tommy Lee Goes to College. The reality series was short-lived - it ran for only one season on NBC - and features Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and his experiences as a college student at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. According to the disclaimer in the credits, however, Lee did not actually register and enroll in courses that worked towards earning a degree from UNL; the University of Nebraska at Lincoln simply granted permission for him to audit some courses for the duration of a semester and experience life as a college student away from his high-profile rockstar lifestyle.

Though some parts of the show are contrived - e.g, it's unlikely to be a coincidence that the chemistry tutor assigned to Lee is a beautiful blonde pre-med student who belongs to a sorority - the show is entertaining, especially for diehard Motley Crue fans. Lee, to the surprise of his professors, takes his courses seriously and exhibits a fierce, unwavering determination to succeed. That he is a hot, dirty rocker boy is a nice side effect as well.

Though not an award-winning, high-brow, compelling show (and it neither claims nor tries to be any of those things), Tommy Lee Goes to College is fun to watch. Some of the funnier moments include watching Lee try to find housing, seeing Lee don a speedo for his swim team tryouts, Lee's creation of his own fraternity complete with a fraternity house and pledges, his attempts at participating in various athletics programs at UNL, and his reactions to the "Hot Tutor", Natalie. It is also fun to see Lee participate in the marching band at UNL and succeed. Lee's natural optimism and exuberance will put a smile on the faces of the viewers, regardless of one's feelings towards Lee and/or Motley Crue. Tommy Lee Goes to College is definitely worth a view for those who do not consider themselves Motley Crue or Tommy Lee fans and is an essential addition to the avid Motley Crue fan's memorabilia collection.

In addition to the episodes of the show, the DVD also contains the music video to Tommy Lee's single from his solo album Tommyland: The Ride "Good Times," a behind-the-scenes video of the songs "Good Times"; "Hello, Again," and "Tryin' to Be Me."
