So you want to wear a tiara, first of all what is the occasion? One MUST have a special occasion to wear such a "stand out in the crowd" accessory. If its not a special occasion, then its possibly for costume or you just feel like a princess today. What ever the reason, once the decision on "where" the tiara is being worn, one must then take in consideration the surroundings. Is this a formal occasion or costume party, will there be many tiara's worn at this affair.
If the latter is the case, that there will be other tiara's worn at this occasion, then special attention should be given in being "different" than the rest. Nothing is worse than spending time and money on a special outfit and accessories only to see it being worn on someone else at the same place. In my experience, its always fun to search out unique boutiques to find the best and most special items. Even antique dealers collect tiara's from long ago, these are some of the most beautiful and unique items you will find. If shopping for a antique or "old" tiara, my suggestion would be to be sure that all the gems are in tact. Shake it a bit and touch each gem slightly just to see if any are loose. Once a decision has been made to purchase a unique antique, take it home, and clean it up with very gentle cleaner. I have found for silver to use toothpaste or a paste made from baking soda and water. I just rub in on the silver NOT the gems very gently and then rinse off, towel dry completely. This can be the most awesome piece of jewelry you own if taken care of. It can also be the most talked about and complemented item you wear, because it will be as unique as you are.
If you chose to purchase brand new, I suggest going to a bridal shoppe, however, don't go to one that ALL the girls go to. Again, pick a place that is more obscure, you'll be sure to find something different and unique. Again, make sure that the stones are all in place snug, and clean. Be sure to comparison shop, it pays to look around, even take the time to check on line on places such as E-bay. Ive gotten some incredible deals on E-bay, and Ive also been stung. A tip to buying on E-bay, check the sellers feedback. If a seller has too many negative feedbacks, I don't care how awesome the item is, I won't buy it.
After selecting your perfect headpiece or tiara, I would suggest selecting several you really like. Find a great mirror and try them all on one by one with the best friend you have. Only a best friend will tell you the truth whether
