Numerous types of orchids are there in this planet earth and most of them have been described in several books and magazines. It is still presumed that there are many undiscovered species of orchid present in this planet. Orchids have different colored looks with varied sizes. They are regarded as one of the most beautiful species in flower kingdom. They are also considered as very subtle in nature and that is why they require delicate handling at the garden itself. It demands proper care of professional people to take them to florists' counter for sale to public. Many articles relating orchid care are easily available in the market for study. You can take practical help from those writings for having beautiful orchids at your place.

An orchid is a broad based flower that is to say that this kind of flowers can be grown at anywhere. It can be managed nearly at all corners of the globe with different climatic conditions. A large quantity of orchid flowers is cultivated in the tropical regions. Many types of orchids are found in deserts with its typical environment. Colder regions, particularly the Arctic regions are also home of some kinds of orchids.

A large number of tropical orchids are found on trees and shrubs. They are seen suspending from the trees. In case of growing of an orchid of soil based type, you need to do it in a tropical climatic condition for better growth of the plant. Growing orchids is not an easy task. Proper care has to be rendered to the plant for its natural growth. The toughest part is the beginning of a plant. There are thousands of small seeds inside the seed pod of a plant. Out of which only one or two will make it happen to start the plant. The path of growing to maturity is very tough and without appropriate care, reaching to that stage is practically impossible for an orchid plant.

A sophisticated greenhouse is the appropriate place for growing this type of delicate plants. With controlled climatic parameters, it is possible to take required care of this plant. Two systems are generally observed in a controlled greenhouse for proper flourishing of orchid plants. One
kind is the use of sterile agar with rich sugar substance for plantation and the other being the application of chunks in place of seeds for the plants.

Orchids can also be grown outside the controlled greenhouse. Studies made on the plant have recommended the use of a light and aerated potting medium to be the best place for growing the plant outside the greenhouse.

Varieties of mediums are used for this purpose like the pine bark, fiber, and pebbles depending on the character of the species of orchid plants. The most useful growth mediums permit abundance of air for the roots of plants and at the same time provide strong support for the orchid plant to stand erected.

Orchids prefer partial shade but like the presence of sunlight also. The need of the light depends upon different varieties. This will be wise to gather information regarding the exact species so that you can take proper care of the plant. It is better to go to the nursery and seek guidance at the time of purchasing the plant. Orchids can be grown definitely at home under common conditions. They need some extra care from you for a satisfactory growth.
