Hotel reviews: Motor City Casino Hotel, Detroit, MI

I haven't felt special in quite some time. I've needed a break from taking care of a loved one, so I haven't had any type of leisure time or social life in three years. Valentine's Day 2009 held a surprise for me, and it was something I will never forget. I was told by my boyfriend that he had rented a room for the evening at The Motor City Casino Hotel, and it was the first time in many months that I was actually looking forward to something. I couldn't wait to leave the confines of my own bedroom to venture into another space unfamiliar and hopefully relaxing. However, I had no idea just how much I was in for.

So colorfully decorated, I had to stop several times on the way to the check-in desk just to look around. Everything in my sight was perfectly placed and all employees in sight were smiling and dressed so professionally. I noticed a long line at the registration desk, but was surprised at how quickly it dissipated. The hallways were beautifully decorated, with tables, plants and a telephone on each floor. I was able to find my room in a matter of minutes.

Once my key card allowed me access to my room, I couldn't help but stand in awe. Beautiful tile led down a small hall that gave entrance to the actual bedroom, but I knew just by that glimpse I was in for more surprises. I felt like a kid in a candy store. I could see the view of Detroit from where I was standing, and the room was already prepared for me; lights and television were already on. In fact, my name, welcoming me, was displayed on the large, flat screen TV that was mounted in the middle of an absolutely beautiful
