2007-08 Fantasy football draft rankings: Running backs

Sleepers are what makes or breaks your NFL fantasy leagues teams. There are always a few late round picks that come and make a difference on your teams. In 2006, Shaun Alexander and Clinton Portis were the top picks. Injuries shortened their seasons, making most teams scurry and stumble to pick up a RB on free agency. To assure your team as success, it is a smart idea to draft a RB sleeper in mid-rounds when most teams are trying to secure a backup QB or a 3rd WR. It is a little early to be specific on what some sleepers may be, but another who drafts Adrian Peterson is sure to have a pretty solid RB. I will give you my top 10 running back picks for 07-08 season, in no particular order:

LaDanian Tomlinson
Brian Westbrook
Frank Gore
Larry Johnson
Laurence Maroney
Adrian Peterson
Maurice Jones-Drew
Shaun Alexander
Willis McGahee
Willie Parker

I have given you my top 10 running backs, now I will give you a list of top 5 busts in 07-08.

Thomas Jones - Cedric Benson will start to get more carries.
Carnell Williams - I believe the Cadillac has ran out of gas with his sub 4yd/carry
Dominic Rhodes - see Thomas Jones, but add Joseph Addai taking more carries.
Edgerrin James - Leinart will be more pass-happy in his sophomore year.
Julius Jones - Barber gets all the carries near the endzone.

I cannot identify true sleeper picks yet, but whoever the Giants, Packers, Texans, Titans, and Browns draft and/or sign in free agency, should be setup to have a breakout year.

My sleeper pick is Tatum Bell with the Detroit Lions. The newly acquired RB will have a breakout year, especially if the Lions pick up Joe Thomas, the left tackle from Wisconsin, with the second pick of this year's draft.

As we all know, a fantasy draft is a crap shoot, I'm just trying to help you load the dice.
