There are many reasons why would feel the need to change their style. Maybe you've changed schools and want to impress a new crowd of people. If your wardrobe hasn't changed since you were still IN school, maybe it's also time for you to makeover your style.
Your personal style can convey the kind of person you are- professional, athlete, rock star, soccer mom... you name it. Being comfortable in your own skin, despite what the magazines say, is always the most important thing to remember. Some people feel as though they're in a rut and couldn't possibly change their look now. Well, it may not be as hard as you think.
First, you have to decide what style you're after. What's the reason for this style change? Here are a few instances:
New school/workplace, keeping up with a trend, expressing your personality, individuality or just a new look because you're sick of what ya got. Everyone changes at some point in their lives even if they don't realize it.
New School or Workplace:
You want to make an impression. For a new school, the idea is to express yourself in a positive way. Trends are very important to you in this social situation, so the latest issue of style magazine is your best friend. If short hair's in, go for it. Take a picture of a celebrity you feel matches your face shape and body frame, and something realistic. If you don't look like everyone else, you know yourself you're at least in style to the rest of the world. Make sure what you choose to make your first impression is something you can look back on and support... not say "Yeah, I don't blame you for ignoring me at first...".
Not one to a follower? I know I'm a critic, but if you buy it a store, someone else owns the exact same one, if not a version of it. Hence, it is impossible to be 100% original at all times. Faking it is awesome though. A secret to rocking your own original new style is to look across the pond. England has a huge fashion scene that tends to burst out here in Canada and the U.S within a year. Check out some indie bands, jazz singers and Mods on websites, or go to your local Chapters or Indigo book stores for some wicked mags from the U.K. Everyone here will think you're a trend setter, when really you know secretly you're just a great researcher.
For a new job or career, it is very important to present yourself in a professional light, no matter what the scenario. Your first impression is so important, it can be the deciding factor on the rest of your career at that location.
