How to watch TV on the computer

TV shows to your hard drive.

I have used a number of makes of TV cards and found their performance can vary greatly. One card might have had good picture quality but only save poor quality images to the hard drive, whilst other cards might provide the opposite. Since the cards with added features can be quite expensive I came to consider it a gamble to buy one because my experience was that such features might not work as well as they should, (it has to be said however a number of factors can affect this). For this reason I finally settled on a basic card with stereo sound and connected it to a freeview box that was able to record programmes. This was the most satisfactory set up for watching TV on my PC I have experienced since it was reliable and the freeview box provided free cable channels as well as the standard terrestrial channels. It also provided the most diverse TV with the best quality content that I could watch when I chose, as well as the highest visual and sound quality.

At the moment it seems as if whilst the technology is there to enable you to watch TV on your PC this is an area waiting for advancements to make the process more comfortable and feel more natural. Even so, it is presently possible to watch TV on your computer although all the alternatives have their weaknesses as well as their strong points. I am perfectly content to watch TV using my PC, but see areas where the experience can be improved.
