How to treat dry feet

Dry feet are not pretty to look at. When you want to wear sling back shoes or open toed sandals it is so much nicer to have softly smooth heels and toes.

The following method for treating dry feet is simple, pleasurable and inexpensive.

These are all the items you need:

1 facecloth

1 towel

1 pumice stone

lavender oil

1 pair of socks

1 toe nail clipper

1 nail file

your favorite nail polish, base and top coat

STEP ONE

After stepping out of a warm shower or bath when your skin has had a chance to soften take a clean, dry face cloth and gently rub it over your feet in a circular motion. It is very important for your feet to be soft because this method will not work otherwise. Rub the cloth over your heels, ankles and the tops and sides of your toes .Don't forget to use the cloth around your cuticles to remove dry skin there. Your neglected feet will feel invigorated as the dry skin comes away easily.

STEP TWO

When you feel you have given your feet a thorough rubdown rinse the cloth well in warm water and gently wipe your feet again. The warm cloth will feel very soothing. When you have finished this step dry your feet thoroughly being sure to dry between your toes ! Now, feel your heels and ankles and toes. You will be surprised at  their softness.

STEP THREE

If you find that you still have calluses or stubborn skin on your heels and toes re-soak your feet . Using a pumice stone in circular motions rub the pumice over the dry or callused skin. Again, be gentle. Many people use a razor to remove dry skin from heels and toes. I find this method is best to avoid as it causes the skin to grow back tougher. Use the pumice stone first before resorting to other methods.

STEP FOUR

Once you have removed the dry skin on your feet pour a bit of lavender oil into the palm of your hand and rub your hands together. Then in slow, soft movements message the oil into your feet. Better yet, have someone else do this for you! Message the oil into your heels, the balls of your feet and around all ten toes. Do the same movement around your ankles. If you need more oil pour a bit at a time since your feet should be soft but not slick.

STEP FIVE

Now put on your favorite pair of socks and pour yourself a cup of mint tea.The oil will be absorbed into your feet which will keep the skin soft. Clip your toenails with a nail clipper and then file. Add a base coat, some snappy nail polish,a top coat and your feet are ready for those wonderful sandals.
