game, The Legend of Zelda finds its home in the real time role-playing game genre. Of course the game has various other action adventure gaming elements, at its heart The Legend of Zelda is essentially a role-playing game.

During The Legend of Zelda video games, players control a young boy named Link has he attempts to rescue Princess Zelda. However there are a few games in the series where Link sets out to save someone else. The best known of all games in the Zelda series is The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo 64.

Final Fantasy 7

Regarded as one of the best turn based role playing games of all time, when it was released Final Fantasy 7 changed this genre of gaming forever. The storyline, and the cut scenes fit the theme perfectly, and everything down to the conversations between characters was absolutely amazing.

This game featured a character name Cloud and all of the friends he meets along the way to defeat Sephiroth and find out answers about his forgotten and shady past. Even now the Final Fantasy series is still on going, but has never recreated the magic that Final Fantasy 7 offered.

At the end of the day, there are many role playing games out there for people to enjoy. Sure this genre of gaming has changed tremendously over the years, but so has the video game industry itself. Whether you're a fan of playing games on-line with thousands of others, or prefer to play offline, role playing games have something for everyone.
