Colors of spring 2009

Spring Fever has arrived, with less than two weeks until spring is officially here. After the winter doldrums and heavy clothes, it's refreshing to see the gauzy fabrics and brilliant colors making an appearance.

The hues for 2009 reflect a dichotomy of the color spectrum. There are the traditional pastels, typical of spring fashion and there is the return of eye-popping neon, in greens, yellows, pinks, oranges, and sometimes, all of the shades surprising the eyes in unison. An example of this is on the "Perrin" model from Report Footware.

Vibrant neon green, orange, yellow and pink, share space on different parts of this trendy high-heeled sandal.

Cool colors are also showing their prominence in this spring's fashions. They're referred to as "surf and sand". There is the range of what is known as lagoon colors, a bevy of blue shades appearing on clothing and accessories by designers ranging from Armani Exchange to Nine West. The blues are reminiscent of an aqua-colored Caribbean
and depending on the hue, go well with a range of skin tones and hair colors.

The eyes have it as well this season in the form of the eye shadows, liners and even mascara in the shades ranging from teal shades to bright blues.

On the other end of cool, is the neutral end of the color spectrum. Beiges, the "sand" colors, are beautiful and featured from all designers. Beige is a color which looks great on everyone and with all types of outfits and styles whether a casual gossamer blouse to a dressy spring suit.

Gold is a surprise this season, appearing on shoes of all heights from flats to the ultra high heels which are the talk of the town and featured by almost every designer in one variation or another.

Prints are big this season. Bold colors and styles reflecting American Indian, Mexican and even African influences are a hit in the magazines. Patterns are filled with various shades of browns, accented with turquoise, red, orange, yellow and other blazing choices.

Like nature's gardens, mini florals are popular as well this season. Colors are as varied as the gardens we see bursting from the ground itself with the advent of the new season. The prints reflect purples, greens, blues, reds, pinks and more, most topped off with green accents.

Finish it all off by dressing up your pout with a fiery red lipstick. Reds from crimsons to the color of cherries are all the rage.

With the diverse fashions this season, one thing can be agreed upon: there's something to appeal to all tastes this spring.
