Computers run our world. They are everywhere you go. In offices and factories around the world you will find some type of computer system. Most people have computers in their personal lives. Some even have two or three computers in their home now.

Children learn the basic use of computers while still in school. Many of those children have already had some basic computer skills taught to them in their homes. There are even toys for toddlers that teach them about using computers. Do people need computer training though?

On closer inspection, you might find that it is a good idea to get some basic computer training. Here is a look at why:

1. Job Ready- Most jobs require computer skills. Keeping your knowledge of computer programs will ensure you have an easier time finding a job that works for you. Taking some courses in things such as Microsoft Word or Excel can make all the difference in whether you are hired for a position or get that promotion that you have been wanting.

2. Speed and Accuracy- You may know how to type enough to get by at your home computer, but will it be enough in other venues? If you are a student or a prospective employee, typing speed and accuracy is a must. Taking a course to sharpen your skills helps tremendously when you are trying to keep notes in class or you have to take a computer literacy test for a new job.

3. Knowing Your Programs- Other than the courses already mentioned for basic program skills, there are many other programs out there that you can get better use of if you get some training. This holds true for home as well as the work environment. You can know the basics of programs without taking training, but to get the most out of it, you should take the time to know your programs better.

4. Making Your Computer Work For You- Your computer is supposed to make your life easier, not more difficult. Taking some basic computer courses that teach you about your computer can make it easier to troubleshoot certain problems.

5. More Knowledge Is Always A Good Thing- It never hurts to know more information. Information is the key to most things in life. The more you know, the better of you are. Besides that, it makes you look smarter. If you are trying to impress someone, all it takes is a few courses to get you there.

6. Finding What You Are Looking For- Taking courses as basic as an "Internet for Beginners" course can help you become a little more mobile in your quest for the right answers. The internet is so full of information that it would be impossible for one person to view every page that is out there. Researching something can be made much easier if you take a class on how to do it better.

It isn't necessary to take computer training to use the computer. It is advisable that people take some courses regarding their computers. Having some proper training in computers will put you in a better position in a very competitive world. When you put a resume into a business, they will be comparing you to many other candidates for the same position. The first thing they will look for is whether you have education. Any computer training that you take will look good to them. They will hire someone who has had some formal training as opposed to someone that learned on their own. You might know the same or more as the other person, but the employer isn't in your brain. They can only go by what is on the paper.

Take the time to take a few courses about your computer and its programs. The only thing you have to lose is a little bit of time. What you have to gain in employment opportunities and the time savings in the long run in your personal life far outweigh the little bit of time you will spend learning it.
