If you are looking to update your style for spring, an injection of seasonal color makes a quick and easy transformation. There are a wide range of color choices on offer in both fashion and beauty products. In general, spring 2009 colors have a magical garden tea party feel. Alongside pretty bouquet shades of purple and green, there are pops of vibrant color and lots of practical neutral shades.
Fashion colors:
Some colors from spring 2008 have carried over to 2009, so you may find that you already have a few trendy colors in your closet. Black and white color combinations continue in popularity, particularly in printed dresses and tops. Yellow is still reigning as a top ten color, with the trendiest shades bright, but just a touch more toned down. Think bright lemon rather then neon yellow.
The "it" colors appear to be shades of purple, green and blue. When it comes to green, many different shades are popular like; deep jewel toned jade, yellow tinged citron and bright lime green. Purples are mostly in lilac tones and blues have a distinct beach side appeal. Think dazzling turquoise or ocean blue.
If you like softer looks, there are many pale neutrals on offer like; cream, beige, taupe, and muted grays. These classic tones are fashions response to the current economic outlook. However, if you'd like a bit of pick me up then you can always indulge in a touch of metallic. Gold, silver, bronze and pewter are best introduced in small doses like accessories. Otherwise, you might look like you belong in a 1970's disco.
Beauty colors:
Spring beauty colors look like they have sprung off the canvas of an impressionist painting. They are pretty, subtle and unmistakably feminine. Shades are predominantly cool and some of the most popular seasonal colors are purple and pink.
Pink is popular in all different types of cosmetics; blush, lipstick, eye shadow and nail polish. The colors range from very light washes in nail shades and eye shadow, through to medium tones in lipstick and blush.
Purples are very popular in eye shadow and nail polish colors. There are lots of graduated eye shadow palettes, with lilac tones popular and very wearable. The purples in nail colors are much more intense, with plum nail polish a big hit.
The other cosmetic shades are predominantly neutral, with face looks revisiting the 1970's natural "no make up" look. Think time enduring colors like; cream, beige and soft taupe. Nail colors have also picked up on this trend with many cosmetic companies offering creamy coffee colored shades.
If you'd like to add some sparkle, shimmer white highlighters are popular on the eyes and cheeks. Or try a metallic eye shadow or liner.
The beauty and fashion shades for spring 2009 are not only pretty, but set to be wearable well into the future. So if you find the perfect outfit or make up palette don't be afraid to make an investment purchase.
