This whole economic situation is a very precarious one. It's not one that affects only the United States but also the entire world. When you and your neighbors are having hard times it's hard to remember that others are affected. Many other countries are bailing out their own companies and are seeing record levels of unemployment.

Having said that, thoughts always turn to the US economy; most recently is the Obama administration's attempt to essentially bail out the country. The Obama administration and Obama in particular are being blamed for the economy. Too many Republicans are hailing Obama as the great destroyer of the economy. They seem to forget that Obama inherited this economic situation from an overly long 8 year Republican horror of an administration.

While they are blaming Obama for the current economic mess he is truly attempting to do something positive about the American economy; in doing so money is required. The use of this money has nothing to do with nationalizing anything or forcing the US into communism as the Republican fear mongers would suggest.

No, all that money is or will be used to put American citizens back to work until the economy turns around and then they can either go back to their old jobs or perhaps they might even find a line of work. The monies that Obama is using should be seen as a bridge. A bridge from now until the economy turns around and that wonderful Wall Street begins to make gains and things begin to get more stable.

Along with that are his other plans for the country; health care and whatever else was promised during the election campaign. Should he bail on health care simply because the economy has gone the way of the Titanic? Of course not! His administration must do things other than try to change the course of the economy. Besides, if every American has health care then more people are available to either work or they might be in a position to actually start a business. The health of its workers matters in every economy.

So is Obama and his crew going crazy with taxpayers dollars? Nope, it's a tough job to turn an economy around. $1.50 and a couple of band aids are not going to fix the economy. A bridge between now and the time the economy turns around is badly needed. This is a great time for public works projects like fixing roads and bridges. Some may see these jobs as trivial and meaningless but they are things that need to be done. If the man-power is available then why not put it to use; we all know that bridges and the like don't repair themselves and it seems much harder to do these things when the economy is good; perhaps because the man-power just wasn't available. There have been a couple of bridge's come falling down, just like that old London Bridge, over the past few years and no one wanted to go to the expense of fixing them prior to them failing. Well, now is a great time for all of that and when the recession is over and jobs return then maybe there will be a few less bridges ready to crumble down.

In the end the economy will turn around but until then it is always nice to see a government that cares enough to go into debt until things do turn around. Once the economy has come off life supports then there will be plenty more employed folks to help repay the debt. It may not be perfect but there seems to be little choice.
