Poetry: Change

Changes are life's way of weaving

light and shadow

into the magic carpet

of our existence.

The warp threads are the long boring days

of sameness,

that stretch before us all.

Days of work, home, relaxation and sleep,

that make us wonder

why we go on...and on.

The weft are the changes,

bright splashes of color

sprinkled here and there.

Some are dark, irregular patches

like spilled wine,

a stain on our life that cannot be removed.

Yet most are light....

rainbow hued,

with subtle, friendly touches.

A pleasing pattern of sunny days,

childhood hopes, laughter and fun.

Now and again

strands of silver glitter beautifully - rarely -

small yet radiant days almost lost

within the weave.

Our life is spread before a Master Weaver,

His loom never still.

His shuttle is plied so skillfully

that we never notice

the pattern take shape...and grow.

Until finally, it is finished

and the Maker

binds the edges

with pure gold.
