Consider this; every decision that you make carries positive or negative consequences along with it. Some circumstances are out of your control and some are not. What we can be certain about is that our own personal thoughts, words and actions do have an effect not only in our own lives, but in the lives of others.
As empathetic individuals, shouldn't we decide to make a positive difference in the world, even if only on a seemingly small level? Deciding every day to practice random acts of kindness will fuel our lives with positive energy and create blessings that will boomerang back to us with surprising accuracy.
Have we become a society that is often too selfish to care about the well-being of other people in the world? It is easier to consider how practicing kindness could help people such as friends and family, but do we fully understand the implications of random acts of kindness on strangers?
Next time you go out in public, make a point to smile at everyone who crosses your path. Smiling is contagious. It is the fastest way to spread positive energy within a room of people. You never know what may be weighing on the mind and heart of a stranger.
Some people are walking around on the brink of sorrow or disaster and all it will take is one more negative comment or emotion for them to feel pushed further into darkness.
What if something that you do or say could change all that? What if you are the only one that has shown this person any kindness or compassion today? What if you are the only one who says the exact words that this person needed to hear at exactly the right moment they needed to hear it? Through following the loving promptings of our own spirit, we become miracle workers in the lives of those around us.
Kindness is more than a way of behaving. It is the choice that must always be decided upon if we are to truly express the love and beauty of God as it flows through us. Practicing kindness should become second nature to us if we reflect on all of the times when people have helped us out or shown us kindness or grace.
Practicing kindness must include embracing compassion. Seeing each other in a loving and non-judgmental light expresses the quality of unconditional love. This unconditional love comes from the purity of your own heart and the strength of God's spirit working through you.
Kindness is sometimes best expressed without the recipient even knowing about it.
One of the kindest things we can do for another is to pray for them, or simply hold positive thoughts about them in our minds and wish them well. Whatever we wish for one another, we wish for ourselves as well.
