What is the origin of fantasy creatures?

by Jose Bustamante

Fantasy, we take this word as something that comes out of day-dreaming. When you fantasize, you are using your imagination. Without imagination there is no thought. When we lack thoughts, we can not have ideas, lacking ideas, no actions. When we do not have actions, there is no life.

We fantasize, or imagine, in order to think, in order to grow. The origin of these fantasy creatures comes of our need to understand our world.

Without these fantasy creatures we would not be, nowadays, in the position we are now. Great technological advances, we have set a foot in other celestial bodies, we have an eye over faraway galaxies. We have been able to understand our world better. We can take a look back in our history, Study the remains of creatures that live millions of years ago.

When we are kids, we lived hand-in-hand with our imaginary friends. We fantasize in being a super hero to save our world. We believe in Santa Claus, the eastern bunny, superman, spider man, believing in them helps us to discover the beauty of our feelings.

At the same time, Dracula, the Were wolf, witches, and all those evil creatures gave us the power to understand that not everything is rosy in our life.

Fantasy, or imagination are the means our mind has to work. These two powerful tools of our mind are the foundations of all the advancement we have had up to now, without them we would still be in the Stone age.

Imagine our ancestors, fantasizing about the way to feed their families without losing so many lives in the act of hunting. They fantasized about the sun, thunder, and powerful animals, because they were fearful of them. They had the power that they lack. So they make them their allies, and became powerful as, what they call them, their Gods. Through these fantasy creatures that they call "Gods" they drew the power to obtain what they wish.

Imagine Einstein, without his fantasy worlds, he would not have achieved all he did.

Fantasy creatures are the pillars of our todays world. We have to have these imaginary creatures in order to keep growing. Those who think less about them are just slaves of the fantasy creatures of others.

Our mind works in that way, first it fantasizes or imagines, then comes a thought, then an idea to finish with an act or action.

Remember, everything our mind produces is energy, and energy is matter. Our universe is made out of energy, and exists, so our fantasies are made out of matter so they exist too.

For you to be born, you have to be imagined before. We all are products of someone else's fantasies.
