The L.A. Dodgers started back in 1883, They change their team name eight times in team history. Their first nick name was the Brookyln Atlantics of the A.A.B.L or the American Association Baseball league. Then they change their name to the Grays 1885-1887. From 1888-1890 they were called the Bridge-grooms. From 1891-1895 they were called the Grooms. from 1896-1898 they went back to Bridge-grooms. Then From 1899-1910 they were called Superbas. From 1911-1912 they were called Trolley Dodgers. In 1913 they were called Dodgers. From 1914-1931 they were called Robins. From 1932 till now they changed their name back to the Dodgers.

This was just a start of the Dodgers history. In the 1920's through the 1930's they didn't have winning seasons. The General Managers of the Dodgers Larry Macphail and Latter Branch wanted to move the Dodgers to Baltimore, but their efforts were blocked by Charles Ebbets. They kept the Dodgers in Brooklyn. Then The Dodgers sign some quality free agents to the team. they sign players like Pee Wee Reese, Jackie Robinson, Gil Hodges, Duke Snider, Roy Campanella, and Don Newcombe. Then the Brooklyn Dodgers won five Pennants 1941, 1947, 1949,1952, and 1953. In the 1941, 1947,1949, 1952, and 1953 World Series they lost to the New Yankees.

In 1950, Walter O'malley bought the Brooklyn Dodgers from Charles Ebbets. Ebbets Field was slowing falling apart. Walter tried to keep the Dodgers in Brooklyn, but the City didn't want to help to build another Stadium for the Dodgers. O'malley started to look else where. O'malley started to look at the west coast, the city of Los Angeles never had a baseball at that time. The Padres were making plans to move to San Diego. The city of Los Angeles started to build a new stadium for the Dodgers.

In Sept 24th, 1957 the Brooklyn Dodgers played their last game at Ebbets Field. The Dodgers beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 2-0. As many sports fan feel when the teams relocate, the Brooklyn fans felt betrayed by Charles O'malley, O'malley told the fans in a press conference he told the fans that the city of Brooklyn did not want to build a new stadium for the Dodgers, and that it would be cheaper if the Dodgers moved else where. Then the fans starting to understand.

In 1962, the Dodgers played their first season in L.A. this is where their history really begins. From 1962-1966 the dodgers found success they had Sandy Koufax and Don Drysdale winning four out of five cy young winners. From 1963-1966 they have won three National
