"A Respite in Tranquility"
Paint me a world in camo
Dazzle me with browns
Hide me out in shades of green
And make sure I'm not found
Cover the earth in Mossy Oak...
So bright hues don't emit
The rays that make me visible
For I want to say, "I quit!"
Send me to my favorite duckblind
Let me rest upon the soil
Goodbye to both friend and foe
And my lengthy days of toil
Dress me like the hunter
In desert tan and olive drab
And keep me from humanity-
They who ask and take and grab
I realize there's no escape,
There is a time I must return,
But a respite in tranquility
Is something that I've earned
So, God above, please mix the paint
Matching leaves and grass and clay,
And I'll lose myself in nature
For the remainder of the day
