"Worthy of a Page"

Are the classics born of torment,
A mistreated, tortured glut
Of tears and blood and straining
Which is emitted from the gut?

Some say that in the half-light
Is where real poets dwell,
And for verses to reach heaven
A great poet goes through hell

Me? I've lived the good life,
With every day the best of times
And, thus, I'm the purveyor
Of all my silly, stilted rhymes

But whether it's light-hearted
Or given birth by wrath and rage,
Our poems are our history
And each is worthy of a page
