Constitutionalism: Upholding the Constitution through balancing the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government

Thoughts on Liberty and Freedom




President Obama has done something wonderful for this country. And please, before there's any snickering, hear me out. He has energized an otherwise enervated political body. This country of ours has been seething for years under the burden of an outrageous and out-of-control government. It's time for the citizens of this great Nation to stand together and take it back.



There is something that we should not let happen. We should not turn this debate into Democrat versus Republican, Left versus Right, Liberal versus Conservative, or Us versus Them. We are all Americans. The message that we should bespeak is this: That government is out-of-control. And the question we need to ask is this: How do we turn back the tide of oppressive taxation, deceitful and lying politicians, and the moral dilemma, the morass that has been infiltrating our lives and holding us captive like prisoners and slaves?



This is a fight for all Americans, whether they are Democrat or Republican. Both political parties have been hijacked by the enemy. But the enemy is NOT your fellow man. It is big government and the leftist media, who purport to spread the gospel that only government knows what is best for its people.



It is our right and responsibility, as Americans and as members of the greatest nation on Earth, to persuade those who believe in the lies perpetrated by this government to see and understand the truth, to believe the truth. And the truth is that if we stand together, as one people of one mind, and under one God, we can win this battle in the end.



We are members of the only nation on Earth that is representative of a Democratic, Constitutional Republic. What does this mean? It is simply this: The heads of our country, states, and municipalities are elected representatives of the people and by the people. These representatives must govern according to the constitution, which limits their power over the citizenry. We are, however, a Democracy, where the real power of governance lies in the hands of its citizens. If the checks and balances of our Constitutional Republic should fail, then it is up to the American citizenry to right the balance.



I would like to end this monologue with a couple of quotations from a great document, The Declaration of Independence. It begins,



"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth,
