The benefits of dating older men are plentiful and many women find the experience tremendously satisfying. Older men have greater emotional stability, financial stability, and in most cases, have learned from past experiences exactly how to balance their personal wants and desires in respect to those of the woman in their lives. Older men are more open to sharing, more capable of caring, and better able to express themselves emotionally in a relationship.

Women who date older men certainly have their personal reasons for doing so, but there is a stigma associated with dating them that many women can't seem to ignore.Some gravitate towards older men because they've grown weary of the games played by guys closer to their age. Many younger men have not yet figured out exactly what they want in life, or in a relationship. Some aren't even sure if they are ready for such long term commitment, and women who know what they want refuse to sit around and wait. When women reach a point in their lives when they want stability, they want a man who can provide it without hesitation.

Older men know how to prioritize their relationship with a woman. They understand the importance of being on time, calling when they promise, giving a woman space when asked, but being available when she needs him. They understand that a woman wants to be treated as an individual, but also as a part of something special. They know how to treat a woman like a woman, instead of simply as the fulfillment of their sexual desires.

Older men know how to love, and to be loved, how to show love, and how to make love. But they also know not to rush love, or to treat love as some kind of emotional head game. They know how to respect a woman, and her wishes, and they know never to rush a woman into anything that she isn't ready for. Older men are more patient, and perceptive, and have a better understanding of what women want in a relationship.

Older men are decision makers, though some may border on being controlling. But those men who have reached the point of being completely comfortable with themselves, know how to make decisions in their relationships by including the women affected by their decisions. And most women just want to know that their input is valuable, but can become comfortable trusting the decisions made by a man.

Some stereotyping exists for women who date older men. Some are thought to be "gold diggers" and others are thought to be opportunistic. Some older men look for "trophy" wives or relationships as a statement of their virility, or a testament to their egos. But these aren't legitimate relationships. Many women date older men because older men are better equipped to satisfy their physical and emotional needs. For them, it is simply a matter of choice.

May/December relationships are not for everyone. But then again, many women dating men in their own age group find themselves dissatisfied with their past relationship experiences. As always, entering into any relationship should be based on mutual attraction, common interests, open communication, and sincere honesty. Women who explore dating older men based on the foundation of these principles may find those ingredients missing from their usual relationship encounters.
