Poetry: Blood

by Jason Cunningham

Created on: March 08, 2009   Last Updated: August 21, 2011

Family blood cannot be denied,
even if our birth certificates are destroyed in fire;
as a result, kin is a bond,
which has been ordained on high,
and ranks second to holy matrimony,
so, when one family member bleeds, we also bleed.

Even if we are separated from birth,
we will eventually unite with kin,
for the blood of our ancestors cry out from the ground,
in the hopes of reuniting the family;
if we let our ancestors' blood lead the way,
the journey to find family would end as soon as it begins,
for it is natural to gravitate towards your family's love.
