Horton Hears a Who deluxe collection review
Recently, on the recommendation of Fred the Fish Man, as my granddaughter calls him, I purchased the deluxe collection of Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who! Fred is a valued associate at our local Wal-mart and has children with his wife, so he knows the best children's movies to get. He said this deluxe collection of Horton Hears a Who was the cartoon version we were brought up on and not that CGI stuff.
Do not get me wrong I am sure the CGI version is good, but I did not want that version. I wanted the cartoons that I grew up with of Horton hears a who to share with my grandchildren. I have watched an earlier version of the movie with my own children when they were young and I want to recapture some of that magic with my grandchildren, who often visit.
This not only has the title movie, it also includes 3 more adventures straight from the mind of Dr. Seuss and your younger children will enjoy this. You can watch not only Horton Hears a Who, but the Butter Battle Book, Daisy-Head Maisey, and Horton Hatches an e=Egg are all included here on this deluxe version.
Yes, this original TV classic aired back in 1970 as a half hour special. It featured Horton, who is an elephant who talks to a scientist living in Whoville. The world had met the people of Whoville in 1966 when the How the Grinch stole Christmas appeared as a Christmas special. Children then fell in love with the people of Whoville, so it was nice to see them once again.
In the movie Horton Hears a Who, Horton hears a tiny cry for help and discovers it is coming from a speck of dust on a flower. Within this speck of dust are the inhabitants of a tiny town called Whoville and the voice Horton hears of professor Who-Vee. Together, our favorite elephant and the professor form this true friendship and help save each other. This is a wonderful lesson to teach young children about friendship and how, even when you are small ,you can be a friend and help others.
As Fred from Walmart pointed out, this deluxe collection of Horton hears a who at $13.97 is cheaper than the CGI version, which is $19.97. Included in the deluxe version is a documentary of Dr. Seuss and a sing-a-long video that your children will enjoy. I think it is a better value because it has the additional movies and it is the classic version. Do yourself a favor and purchase this movie today, and spend some quality time with your family with this one.
