The benefits of avocados

The benefits of eating avocados are shocking and in a moment you will learn why, but first lets find out exactly what an avocado is. The avocado is a fruit native to Central and South America. It has been grown and cultivated there for thousands of years. It has had many uses throughout the centuries, for example, in certain parts of the world babies are weaned using mashed avocado. Even today it still has many practical uses not only as a food substance, but as a cosmetic product.

The avocado is rich in vitamins B, E, and K and also contains about 60% more potassium than bananas. So ladies, if you are looking for a healthy fruit, this is the way to go. They are also used in the dip known as guacamole, as well as a filling for several kinds of sushi. They also are very tasty when cut up and mixed in with a fruit salad and they also help with some digestive problems.

Since it is still cold and flu season, eat an avocado everyday if you're recuperating from an illness and are trying to regain your strength. While on the topic of regaining your strength, avocados have also been used to assist people with sexual problems. So fellas, if you are having a little trouble performing then you should add an avocado to your diet. The largest benefit of the avocado is for use on our largest organ. No guys, not that organ. Actually, the skin is the largest organ in or on the human body. Think about it. The skin is constantly growing and repairing itself and the avocado helps it to do just that. The flesh of this particular fruit can be used to treat a rather nasty sunburn by rubbing it gently on the affected area. Avocado paste can also be used to clear up rashes and treat rough skin to make it much smoother.

The avocado is a great fruit that is very easy to locate at most farmer's market and your local grocery store. Most markets will sell them unripe so it will take three to six days for it to ripen. When looking for a delicious avocado, you should keep an eye out for these qualities. You want to look for an unblemished, heavy avocado with a bright green color. If they yield to slight pressure, then they are ready to be eaten. If you are in a hurry and don't want to wait three to six days then you can speed up the process by placing the fruit in a plastic bag with an apple or banana. So the next time you are in the market, head over to the fruit aisle and give an avocado a try.
