In the midst of economic hardship, it might seem silly to be concerned with the latest fashions. However, whether you frequent thrift shops or the most upscale boutiques, you will always have a variety of choices when it comes to color.
The colors featured in the spring lines of 2009 encourage women to live out their fantasies through what they wear. Though you might not be able to afford an all inclusive vacation on a tropical island, there is no reason why you can't dress as if you were on such a vacation. The availability of vibrant, citrus colors of the coming season will allow any woman to do so regardless of her financial situation.
Green, in any year, is the color most widely associated with spring. It is representative of growth and renewal, and rarely fails to uplift. The shades to wear this year are crisp and vivid; think kiwi fruits and limes. Pair with white for a clean, fresh look and don't be afraid to experiment with the emerald shades featured in the make-up aisle at your local pharmacy. A well-applied swipe of green eye shadow can easily be blended with neutral colors for an ethearel earth-goddess look.
Don't Fear Fuchsia
Pink is innocent and seductive at the same time and perfect in that it complements and flatters every skin tone. This season's pinks are bold, yet wearable in that they match well with classic neutrals such as brown, olive green, white, and grey. Wear a top in bright fuchsia and temper it with a mellower salmon or rose on the lips and nails.
Blue Mood
When asked their favorite color, the majority of people will answer 'blue.' Not surprisingly, blue is featured in every fashion line in some form. This year, we can choose between timeless navy blue and a shade reminiscent of the calm hue of the Mediterranean Sea coined 'palace blue' by Pantone, a leading manufacturer in paints and dyes. Both can be paired with white for a low maintenance, classic look appropriate for work or a night out.
Fall in Love With Lavender
Purple garments were once available only to royalty due to the rarity and expense of the dyes used to create them. Now any woman can indulge in this luxurious hue. This spring, opt for pale lilac shades in both clothing and make-up for a calmly elegant look. This shade is perfect for those who feel they have outgrown pink.
Lemon Cheer
Yellow is often perceived as being too vivid or 'loud' to wear. On the contrary, when worn well, it can be sophisticated and downright stunning. Yellow is another color that flatters all skin tones and is surprisingly versatile. For daytime, pair with white and at night, wear it with black for a bold and daring contrast. For the many women who fear wearing primary colors, yellow gold jewelry (real or costume) looks irresistibly chic and energetic with a predominantly white outfit. Even a hint of metallic yellow eyeshadow can bring some welcome sunshine into your complexion.
It is important that you are comfortable with what you wear. Fortunately, this year's trends are timeless and easy to work with, so put on the clothes you love and welcome the spring with the colors most appropriate to herald its magnificent and long-awaited entrance.
