The wonderful world of Disney and its corruption of the youth

to be made in criticism. My own bookshelf (did I mention I was a collector?) contains such titles as "Disney The Mouse Betrayed: Greed, Corruption and Children at Risk" (by Peter & Rochelle Schweizer, Regnery, 1998); "Team Rodent: How Disney Devours the World" (by Carl Hiaasen, Ballantine, 1998); and "The Disney Boycott" (by Floyd McElveen, Vital Issues Press, 1998). I find it difficult to believe all these books were written solely as a public service. Certainly there is great publicity for politically oriented organizations to elevate awareness and bring in donations by exposing "Disney's Radical Gay Agenda"; perhaps even as much as a "War on Christmas".

So where are we today? Is Disney corrupting our youth, consciously or unconsciously? Is Walt Disney's legacy assuming one agrees with that legacy to begin with being lost forever?

Some see corrupting influences. I see a venerable American corporation bordering on an institution that was founded by a charismatic visionary in a simpler period of American history. Today its leaders are struggling to please its bosses (an overwhelming number of which are institutional investors whose only criterion is the maximization of profits) by trying to give the public what it wants in a rapidly changing world.

The problem is my view isn't very exciting.
