Cell phones: We can't escape them, if they're not in your pocket ringing at inconvenient times, somebody else is shouting down one sitting next to you and not realising how their sharing their conversation with the rest of the bus. The thing that gets me most is when you're standing in a shop minding your own business when you hear somebody talking angrily. They don't have a cell phone you can see, so you can only assume that their talking to you, and get really worried about what on Earth they are going on about. Then you realise that blasted contraption hanging off their ear like something out of a sci-fi movie.
Well, now I've complained a bit about cell phones, I suppose I better give you a few tips on how to use your phone in a peaceful, NON-AGGRESSIVE manner which does NOT disturb the people around you. So, here goes:
1)ALWAYS be aware of how loud you're talking and what you are talking about. Don't start having a go at your boyfriend for being late, or whatever in front of a whole train carriage full of people. You'll get funny looks and some conversations can be extremely embarrassing if you get too caught up and forget you're surrounded by nosey eaves-droppers like me.
2)NEVER use "hands free devices" to talk on your phone unless you're in the car, or have no other choice. They may make you look like a business man, they may be "convenient", but imagine what the person standing next to you is thinking when you start to have a go at your friends for whatever reason and they can't see that you're not talking to them.
3)NEVER go into a movie or a meeting and don't atleast put your phone on silent if not turn it off. It can be so embarassing if it goes off, especially when everyone hears your embarrassing ringtone. And what do you do if it does happen? Pick it up? Leave it ringing and pretend it's not you? Start rummaging through your bag trying to find it to turn it off? DON'T RISK IT!
4)Even if you're not great with technology, make sure you have a decent ringtone. If you can't change it, get somebody else to do it for you! The best ringtones are already programmed into your phone, their not too loud, nobody can say you have indecent taste, and their free. Don't bother subscribing to "Jamster" or any other music or gaming company, they will rip you off BIG TIME, and they never give you exactly what you want. Always read the small print, most probably you find that by texting a certain number to get a "free" ringtone or video you are infact subscribing to pay 5.00 a week for the rest of your life, and won't be able to do anything about it.
Well, that's about all I can say. I think the most important thing for me to say is to tell you to be considerate of the people around you, and concsious of what you say infront of them. I hope you take some of these rules into account when venturing out with your new mobile. Happy cell phoning!
