I watched her as she shopped. I pretended to do so also. This gave me time to study her. It was a chance meeting, and to see her was pure coincidence. She was pretty in a way that others might not notice. Her hair done in a youthful style, although you could see the lines of age creeping up on her face. She moved swift and determined, perhaps in anticipation of preparing a tasteful meal for that certain someone that evening. She was hurried, but not careless. She knew everything that she needed to get, and she didn't want to spend any more time here than necessary.

Her breath became mine. I was her air. She swore undying love, but I knew it was too big a promise for her to keep. I knew better, but soon I believed all her words. Soon, my love could not be contained. This was the love of my life. The person created for me,...
I watched as she finished her shopping and proceeded to the check out counter. I followed and stood right behind her. She turned around and for a brief second, she allowed our eyes to meet. Without any reaction, she turned back around, and I realized we were nothing but strangers.
