It's fascinating how the Abraham-Hicks teachings began to be pulled, more than twenty years ago, through Esther Hicks as a result of people - especially Jerry Hicks, at first - having questions and lining up with their desires for very clear answers. The answers were there all the time; we just had to be in the place of asking the questions and then become sufficiently relaxed and happy to rendezvous with the answers.
Abraham insists that when we are in a state of appreciation, we are the closest to pure Source energy that is possible for us while in physical expression. That's why appreciation feels so good, and that's why criticism, resentment, and complaining feel so bad (to us, AND to those who are listening - ha). Starting the day with an appreciation walk, for instance, is a fabulous practice. The rules: simply appreciate everything you see as you walk around your neighborhood.
Instead of trying to wrestle any habits of negativity to the ground, we can use appreciation and other good-feeling thoughts to somewhat "drown out" that lower vibration. That's why I carry a little plastic clicker with me around the house and deliberately add to my tally of happy thoughts throughout the day. (Current score: 241; yay, me!) With every good-feeling thought, we're bringing our desires one step closer to us. And with each negative thought, the opposite is true. Plus, good-feeling thoughts cause us to feel joyful, and that's our ultimate purpose here, according to honest Abe. Bingo!
When we're relaxed and happy, we're allowing our well-being to flow to us with ease, and Abraham calls this a "vortex." In a mass e-mailing from Esther today, she said that she's been in that vortex for a while and it feels so good she's never coming out! I don't blame her!
But if we pop in and out of this vortex - relearning and relearning this - that doesn't have to be cause for concern. For every time we pinch our well-being off somewhat and then release resistance and return to the "vortex," it is SO rewarding. We get to experience the immense pleasure of again being "in the flow," of going downstream, of being in alignment, and it feels even better in comparison with the contrast we previously experienced.
One happy thought. One simple, happy thought about the past, the present, or the future. One simple, happy thought right now...and right now...and right now. That's all it takes. Ever.
