Think back to the last few years. What have you done for Valentine's day? What have you sent? What have you received? Now.... forget about it! This year is going to be different! No more cheesy store-bought lines... this is the year where you make your Valentine feel like one! And it can all start with a card....
Here are a few tips to spice up your Valentine's day:
1. Be Mysterious.
"I'm picking you up at 7:00 sharp. Be ready..... and wear something cute."
A message like this builds anticipation- your partner will be wondering what kind of adventure you have planned for the night. Of course, this requires some advance planning on your part- making reservations at your favourite restaurant- but it will pay off in the end.
2. Setup a treasure hunt.
Instead of one card, this gives you an opportunity to write a few. With each clue leading to their gift, tell them one reason why you love them, or remind them of one good memory that you've shared in the past. That way, when you're waiting for them at the location of their gift, the romantic mood for the night will be set.
3. Smell, smell, smell.
Spray a bit of your perfume/cologne onto the card so that when they open it, they get a taste of your scent. They say that smell is the most powerful in memory recall- use this to your advantage. Just becareful not to put so much in that they sneeze!
4. Don't say I love you.
What? Is this guy out of his mind? I know, that's what you're asking yourself, but calm down. For me, I'd much rather hear these words off the lips of my partner rather than read them on the card. Continuing with the mysterios theme, you could even leave the card unfinished... "I have something to tell you but...you'll have to come find out....1"
5. Don't go on and on and on.
As the saying goes, be short and sweet. This way, it will only leave your partner wanting more. Besides, if you follow all these tips, there will be plenty of time to tell them how you feel at the end of the night.
Hopefully these tips give you some ideas for your card(s) this Valentine's day. Make this Valentine's day one to remember... do the things you partner least expects!
