Description:
N ine miles west of the neon pretentiousness of the Las Vegas Strip hides the outwardly unassuming Rosemary's Restaurant, snuggled inside an unpretentious strip mall. Once past the unglamorous faade, however, you enter a world known to local's and elite for it's Michelin Recommended Restaurant and for inventive libations served out on their green-marbled lounge.
Michael and Wendy Jordan are classically trained chefs who have lived and cooked at top restaurants all over the world before finally settling down to open their own restaurant with Rosemary's (named after Wendy's mother). They draw from their travels to create French-inspired, creative American cuisine with regional twists from New Orleans, the Deep South and the Midwest. The menu includes classic dishes with fresh twists such as Roasted Rack of Lamb with Kalamata Olive Mashed Potatoes, Fried Arugala and Rosemary Bordelaise Sauce.
It also tends to highly inventive nouveau dishes that can be hard to classify, such as Crispy Skin Texas Striped Bass served with Andouile Sausage, Rock Shrimp and Fingerling Potato Hash, Hushpuppies and Creole Meuniere Sauce.
On their website Chef Michael Jordan says "Almost every dish has a story behind it that could never completely be told in a cookbook- you have to experience Rosemary's to get the whole story."
A Wine Spectator Award winning wine list and a selection of world-class beers complements the diverse menu. Rosemary's signature drink is the Bloody Mary made with oven-roasted tomatoes with fresh basil, onion, garlic, bell pepper, celery seed, black pepper, kosher salt, Worchester sauce, lime and lemon juice, then adds a can of roma tomatoes and heats it up with Serrano peppers and Louisiana Hot Sauce, seasoned and processed for three days before presenting it infused with some top-shelf Belvedere vodka.
All told, Rosemary's is a quiet place where people want to retreat from the high energy of Las Vegas and relax in the quiet surroundings. In fact, the Las Vegas Sun reported that O.J. Simpson has a last, quiet dinner at Rosemary's the night before he went to jail on his Las Vegas kidnapping and robbery conviction. The paper quoted sources that Simpson has the beef carpacio, foie gras with an orange brioche bread and a Nevada nectarine coulis, all washed down with a Johnny Walker Black and Coke.
