Some loving parents have no choice but to research the best schools for toddlers. With the economic situation the way it is today, even the best moms in the world sadly know that they may not be able to adequately provide for their child without a second income to protect their home. The best thing they can do is to find the most caring and educative toddler preschool placement that they can for the sake of their child.

The best schools for toddlers will be those establishments that are the most homely, the most educationally nurturing and the most caring. Mostly these placements are called pre-schools or kindergartens. In fact the word 'kindergarten' comes from the German 'kiddies' and 'garden' - what a lovely idea! They will be places where Mom can reluctantly leave her trusting toddler, knowing he will be safe, educated and cared for while she has to be away from him. Sometimes the best toddler placement may turn out to be another home! Lots of caring, educated moms are opening day care businesses in their own homes and sometimes they can be a great compromise - a half-way house between home and school.

Here Mom's little one can be prepared for 'real' school by getting practice in play-learning, thinking, getting along with others and expressing himself. The best schools or daycare centres for toddlers will be so like an educational version of home that he will learn to relax in the knowledge that there are other adults who can be trusted, not just Mom and Dad.

A really good kindergarten will be child-centred and will want to develop the toddlers' abilities in making representations of their experiences through language, role play, artistic play and imaginative expression. Just before kindergarten-age toddlers are moving towards more practical thinking and problem-solving and good toddler education setting will maximise this time fully.

The skilled toddler-education teachers will encourage many chances to talk, provide vocabulary enrichment, participate in math games, letter shape exploration, listen to storytelling, enjoy musical experimentation and appreciation, and act out role play and art. Toddlers can be shown how to get along with each other and with adults,so preparing them for the rules of 'big school.'

A really good toddler school will also cater fully for the child's daily welfare too, in terms of potty-training,healthy meals and snacks, rest times and free play where the toddler gets to choose what she wants to do for a while. Toddlers need 'down-time' too! These pre-schools will present a calm, happy, secure child to the relieved parent at the end of the day or session. Hopefully he will have learnt something too - and will have had some fun along the way.

Many a mom has cried at the thought of ending her maternity leave, returning to work or just contemplating helping her partner with a second income. Hopefully a really good toddler school or day care centre will make this a little easier by presenting a laughing happy child whjo is pleased to see her and runs into her arms at the end of the sesssion - not because it wasn't nice there, but just because he wants to run into the arms of the mom he loves!
