Sex on the first date?

There are no rules for men when it comes to sex but women are constantly judged. If a Man and a Woman were to have sex on a first date he'd be praised while she'd be slated. A recent study from University College London showed that women who did not have sex on a first date were more likely to find themselves in a secure relationship with a good man. But on the other hand, if you're young, free and single and not looking for a relationship then what's the harm? Here is my advice on the pros and cons of Sex on a first date for women:

Pros:

Excitement: You're on a date, it's going really well, you're smiling and laughing, getting a bit tipsy, you don't want it to end so you invite him back to your place. Sex can be more exciting and fun with somebody new.

Expressing feelings: By having sex with him on a first date he may not necessarily think 'easy' he may in fact be flattered that you really want him.

Compatibility test: How else are you supposed to know if he is any good? You don't want to fall for him only to find he doesn't have a clue what to do in the bedroom.

Ego boost: He is amazing and he wants you so much. Right there, right then. How flattering.

Exercise: Even if it doesn't work out you've managed to burn a few calories. Great, you can't lose right?

Wrong.

Cons:

It's likely to be unsafe: As the sex is unplanned there is a chance that neither of you have a condom. Even if you are on the pill that doesn't prevent you from catching an STD.

Anti-climax: It is unlikely you will climax as Women need to feel safe to fully enjoy sex. Sex after a few drinks on a first date is unlikely to last long enough for your body to feel safe and relaxed. As the saying goes 'Fast in, Fast out.'

Your feelings: You can't predict how you will feel the following day. There is a chance that you will feel ashamed and embarrassed that you gave it up too easily.

Your reputation: While some guys might think nothing less of you, some will! He may lose respect for you and not feel you are the type of girl he could settle down with.

The next day: It may have been fun the night before but now you have to face reality, do you really fancy him sober? what happens now? Should you suggest another date? Plus if it happened at his place you have to do the walk of shame.

The bottom line: If you're hoping for a relationship with the guy in question it's best to wait until you know each other better. If you can't respect yourself then you can't expect anyone else to either.
