Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is the key to living the good life. It is the way we are meant to live. Having a healthy body, a keen mind, control over our emotions, and a peaceful spirit brings out the best in all of us. Being our best is the only option for the individual and for society.
Our body is meant to be treated with dignity and respect. There is no other creation on earth or in the universe which is more miraculous. We'll never totally understand it but we do know that our body needs to be nourished. Healthy food provides that nourishment. In turn the body has the energy to perform the movement needed for the day. Eating the proper foods and amounts on a regular basis allows our body to perform in its optimum level.
Our body is action oriented. The more we move the better we feel and the more we'll accomplish at work and in our personal life. People naturally got exercise in an agricultural society but now that most of the world is in an information society most people have to make time in their day to exercise their bones and muscles. So much of modern life is inside but we need to get fresh air so part of the exercise needs to be outside. The more we exercise the more coordinated our body is.
No computer will ever match the mind of a person. Its complexity is beyond even the neurologists. However, we do know that the brain runs our life by motivating us to do or not do something. Activity in different parts of the brain is essential. We need to be alert and aware of all around us in order to act. Learning about anything gives us satisfaction but also exercises different parts of our brain like memory as well as using different parts to solve complex problems. Our brain needs to be exercised each day. The more we use it the better it is and the better we will live.
Our emotions have a lot to do with our quality of life and they are all good: happiness, sadness, anger, jealousy, envy, rage, passion, love. However, they all want to be in charge and run our life. You must be in charge and that means being in control of each and co-ordinating all of them in a beautiful symphony of what you are meant to be. Emotions are the spice of life and our feelings make us feel joy in all we do. Sharpening and disciplining our emotions allow us to live each moment with passion.
Our soul is the most mysterious part of us. Each soul is unique and someohow we are all interconnected with each other in the past, present, and future but most of all with GOD. Spirituality awakens this most important part of us and religion expresses the yearnings of the soul. Worship lifts us up to Heaven as we pray to God by thanking and praising Him. Spirituality nourishes and sharpens our soul.
Living a healthy lifestyle means having our total self in the best of shape so we can live the very best life each day and every day. This takes discipline and focus but it is the treasure and secret of the art of living. Then and only then we'll live with the utmost intensity and pleasure we are meant to live every moment of our life. How lucky we are to live and how beautiful life is!
