Poetry: God

by Erin G

Created on: March 06, 2009

Why are you not listening?

Why do you not care?

Are you looking down on me?

Are you even there?

I wish that you would answer

That you would listen to my prayers

Because the weight on my shoulders

Is sometimes too much to bear

Please just give me a sign

That I will be alright

One flicker of hope

To get me through the night

I know I have done wrong at times

But please don't send me to hell

Because beneath the surface

I really do mean well

I know you think I am strong

That I can handle all this strife

So why do I feel so weak,

And why at times, want to end my life?

I know that you realise

I cry myself to sleep

And that I apologise to you

Between each and every weep

I'm sorry, God

Why did you make me this way?

I know I am 'special'

But I am really not OK

Please reveal yourself to me

I want to know that you are around

That I can get myself back up

When I have fallen on the ground

So as I drift into yet another dream tonight

I will once again pray

Please listen this time, God

And help me through another day
