Belly fat removal is an elusive and tough goal for many individuals. Most people who are fighting the battle of the bulge have had very little success with reducing belly fat. Women may find it especially difficult. Here are some ideas and techniques that can come to your aid.

The keys to success are awareness of eating habits, knowledge of nutrition, and commitment to change. Most people believe that any form of physical activity will help them to reduce belly fat. This isn't necessarily true. To reduce belly fat, especially when exercise is involved, your efforts have to be focused on the abdomen. You need to make sure that you are targeting each muscle group - upper and lower abdominals, and obliques. As the first step, you can try exercises such as crunches, pelvic tilts and oblique stretches. Walking is also beneficial.

These exercises put your abdominal muscles to work and will contribute towards belly fat removal. The basic idea is to ensure that your muscles are given a proper work out on a consistent basis. If you find it too tough to do these exercises each day, try exercising on alternate days. Consistency is one of the keys to success in the belly fat fight. It is better to exercise consistently for 10 minutes every other day, than to perform one mega exercise session, with the result of being too sore to exercise for the remainder of the week. Start at a level that you can maintain, and work your way up gradually. Here's a tip: Make a rule for yourself. You can always skip one day of exercise, but you can never skip two days in a row. In other words, if you didn't exercise yesterday, you must exercise today.

The second step towards belly fat removal is by following a healthy eating program. Diet is a key factor and plays a very important role in fat removal around the belly region. Introducing more nutrient dense foods into the diet is vital. Nutrient dense foods provide large quantities of nutrition with very little calorie cost. Following a diet program isn't without its share of challenges. Make a list of the foods and the portion size you need. This will help you to stay focused on the goal of eating the correct foods. It will also help you become familiar with your eating habits. Change your eating habits consistently to move towards a healthier lifestyle that will help reduce belly fat. Little changes, repeated over and over, move you toward success.

Add more fruits and vegetables, and eat them as raw or unprocessed as possible. Avoid or eliminate sugars in your daily diet. Have 5-6 small portions of food instead of eating 3 large daily meals. Space these smaller meals throughout the day to keep blood sugar levels stable. Do not eat at any fast food restaurants! Learn to enjoy fruits as a satisfying dessert. Do not purchase or consume any food that contains high fructose corn syrup. Reading and understanding food labels is imperative in your battle to reduce belly fat.

Before you embark on your battle of the bulge, be sure to discuss your diet and exercise plans with your physician. A physician or registered nutritionist is the best person to aid you in developing an eating and exerting schedule that suits your needs, health, and lifestyle.
