Key factors to having a prayer answered

by Vincent Jones

Created on: March 05, 2009

God doesn't break cosmic law. Ever. To do so would engender favoritism. No one stands above another before God, all are loved equally. Most, unfortunately, go through life by self propulsion until some hardship befalls them. Being nominal believers they turn to prayer in desperation and fear, asking for help. Now if we are all loved, and we are told often that we are, why does God seemingly grant some prayers but not others? Is it, as so many have said "God answers all prayers, just sometimes the answer is no?" Is there a pecking order in Heaven? Of course not. We demonstrate; prayers answered, based on the work we have done in daily Practicing the Presence of God in our lives. It is not that God does not hear a prayer or want to answer it, He doesn't have anything to draw from to answer it, for to do so would break cosmic law and God never breaks His laws. Consider the fast food restaurant. You pull up to the speaker/microphone, place your order, pull up to the window and get your food. Oh, that's right, you have to pay for the food before it's handed to you. What happens if you lack sufficient cash? No food. You go hungry. The person holding your order may love you and want with all their heart to give you the food since clearly you are hungry and in need of relief, but they cannot. To do so would be unfair to everyone else; other customers, fellow employees, the restaurant owner, share holders and the community at large because if you get free food, why shouldn't the next guy? They would be providing something for nothing, based only on emotion, and if persisted in the result would be bankruptcy, loss of jobs, a closed avenue of source.

God is never unfair. If you have been busy living life secularly, believing in God but doing little to demonstrate that belief, is it really any surprise that your spiritual account is empty? We reap as we have sown. If no real crop was ever planted why is it that when winter arrives we are shocked to find the cupboard bear. Since the Universe isn't a fast food restaurant, where if you have a credit card you can get your food on the promise of future payment, God doesn't take plastic. The promise of prayer and good works tomorrow is meaningless towards our demonstration today. Faith without works is dead. Start today to build up your account within, to stock your cupboard for the inevitable winter days that come for all. Practice the Presence of God in every area of life. Salute the spark of the Divine in all you meet. Forgive. Spend a few minutes every day in prayer and meditation and carry the Good News on your face so that any who hunger can be filled. In so doing you will never hunger, your cupboard full, your good works a demonstration of the Power within, your prayers answered.
