My Girl
She had blue eyes, blonde hair and a curl
and ruled the roost. . . .Daddy's Little Girl.
The moment I saw her I knew she was mine
and forever would be my Valentine.
She brightened my day, just like the sun
with giggles and questions, a million and one.
A smile that owned my very soul
my days and nights were her's to control.
"Hold me Daddy, don't let me fall

I made the team Dad; ain't that great?
Can me and my friends go celebrate?
I'm sixteen now, can I have a car?

Guess what Dad? There's a boy that I like
he's a football player and his name is Mike.
We're going to the Prom, he's so much like you
he's handsome, caring and he loves me too.
I'm off to college, its way out of state.
I'll be on my own, I just can't wait.

Hope you're proud, when I get my degree."
The years have flown by. Where did they go?
The wedding was big, she married her beau.
My little girl; a grown woman now
our time is gone, I've lost her somehow.
Then today she smiled, the smile of a mother
and handed me, my precious granddaughter.
With eyes so blue, blonde hair and a curl
she'll rule the roost. . . . .Grandpa's Little Girl.
